Downsizing Sale

Abigail Breslin, our tortoiseshell cat, wearing a small holiday hat
Abigail being held outdoors
Abigail Breslin · 2012–2026

Our cat Abigail Breslin passed away recently at 13 years old. She was beautiful and strong and so smart and opinionated, and we did everything we could for her. That left us with about $4,000 in emergency vet bills that still need to be paid.

So we're downsizing. These animals and setups have been years in the making, and we're not looking to fire-sale them to the first person with cash. We want them going to people who actually keep this stuff and know what they're getting into. If that's you, we'd rather work with you on price than watch something we care about end up neglected.

Prices are negotiable, especially if you're bundling. Reach out and we'll figure it out.

Current Fosters

We still foster cats through our local rescue. These two aren't for sale — they're just passing through on the way to their forever homes.

Fish 18 species
Ember Tetra (×11)
Hyphessobrycon amandae
Beginner Inquire
Micro-predator endemic to the Araguaia river basin in Brazil. Requires soft, acidic blackwater to exhibit maximum flame-orange pigmentation. Keep in groups of 6+. Peaceful, perfect for planted nano tanks.
Dragon Puffer (×1)
Pao palembangensis
Expert Inquire
Highly specialized ambush predator from Southeast Asia. Beak-like teeth grow continuously — a diet of hard-shelled invertebrates (snails, mussels, crayfish) is strictly non-negotiable to prevent dental overgrowth. Sedentary and cryptic. Minimum 40 gallons for water volume, not swimming space.
Orange Platy (Multiple)
Xiphophorus maculatus
Beginner Inquire
One of the most genetically robust and forgiving fish in the hobby. Adapts to a massive range of pH and hardness. Constant surface activity and live fry.
Black Moscow Guppy (Multiple)
Poecilia reticulata 'Black Moscow'
Beginner Inquire
A product of intense selective breeding — deep, velvety black phenotype across the entire body with impressive finnage. Hardy and prolific. Expect fry.
Kuhli Loach (Multiple)
Pangio kuhlii
Beginner Inquire
Eel-like nocturnal scavengers that navigate tight interstitial spaces. Utilize subocular spines for defense. Require fine sand substrate to engage in natural burrowing without epidermal damage. Thrive in groups.
Endler's Livebearer (Multiple)
Poecilia wingei
Beginner Inquire
Endemic to Venezuela's Paria Peninsula. Jewel-bright, compact livebearers closely related to common guppies. Taxonomic distinction from P. reticulata remains debated — they readily hybridize. Pure-strain documentation is vital for purists.
Playfair's Killifish
Pachypanchax playfairii
Intermediate Inquire
Predatory surface-dweller from the Seychelles and Madagascar. Unique adaptation: mature dominant males' scales slightly protrude from the body — this is normal, not dropsy. Thrives in soft, slightly acidic water with floating cover. Jumper — lid required.
Red-eye Puffer (×1 male)
Carinotetraodon irrubesco
Intermediate Inquire
From the acidic blackwaters of Sumatra and Borneo. One of few freshwater puffers tolerant of conspecifics — groups of 5+ possible with sufficient visual barriers. Males: vivid red eyes and lateral striping. Hard-shelled foods mandatory for dental health.
Brichardi Cichlid
Neolamprologus brichardi
Intermediate Inquire
'Princess of Burundi.' Forms multi-generational colonies with cooperative brood care — older siblings actively defend territory and help rear fry. Requires pH 8.0+, high carbonate hardness, and extensive calcareous rockwork.
Golden Killifish
Fundulus chrysotus
Beginner Inquire
Louisiana native. Incredibly resilient, cool-water tolerant species from southern US swamps and sloughs. Flattened dorsum and upturned mouth for preying on surface insects. Can be kept unheated.
Dwarf Cory (×5 albino + ×1 standard)
Corydoras pygmaeus
Beginner Inquire
Unlike standard Corydoras, pygmies frequently hover mid-water in tight shoals. Require fine, non-abrasive sand — coarse gravel erodes their sensory barbels, causing infections and inability to forage.
Shell Dweller Colony
Neolamprologus multifasciatus
Beginner Inquire
World's smallest known cichlid. Obligate shell-dweller — inhabits empty snail shells, obsessively excavating and repositioning them. Requires fine sand and empty shells (included). Full breeding colony available.
Gardner's Killifish
Fundulopanchax gardneri
Beginner Inquire
Semi-annual spawner from West African forest streams. Extreme sexual dichromatism — males display vivid steel-blue with crimson spots and broad yellow/red fin margins. Deposits drought-resistant eggs in peat moss or spawning mops.
Albino Pleco (×1)
Pterygoplichthys sp.
Intermediate Inquire
Massive, heavily armored detritivore reaching 13–19 inches. Requires 75+ gallons long-term. Specialized digestive system often requires lignin from submerged driftwood, which they rasp with ventral mouthparts.
American Flagfish (×3 adults + fry)
Jordanella floridae
Beginner Inquire
Florida native with bold red-and-green lattice pattern. One of few freshwater fishes capable of consuming robust filamentous algae. Cool-water tolerant. Mildly nippy with slow-finned tankmates.
Jewel Cichlid (×2)
Hemichromis sp.
Intermediate Inquire
Brilliant iridescent red coloration with luminescent blue spotting. Extreme aggression during breeding — devoted biparental substrate spawners. Territoriality expands massively during reproduction. Best kept species-only.
Killifish (species TBD)
Cyprinodontiformes sp.
Intermediate Inquire
Species identification pending. Fry and juveniles being grown out. Inquire for current status and identification progress.
Herps 7 species
Baja California Tree Frog (~5)
Pseudacris hypochondriaca
Intermediate Inquire
Small, highly vocal chorus frog. Requires vertically oriented enclosure with high humidity, arboreal climbing surfaces, and water access. Thrives in bioactive setups with springtails and isopods for waste processing.
California Tree Frog (×1)
Pseudacris sierra
Beginner Inquire
Small, hardy Pacific tree frog. Beginner-friendly with the right humidity regime and a live insect diet.
Mediterranean House Gecko (×2)
Hemidactylus turcicus
Beginner Inquire
Incredibly adaptable synanthropic species. Toe pads utilize microscopic setae exploiting van der Waals forces for molecular adhesion — they can climb smooth glass and run inverted across ceilings. This adhesion fails only on Teflon (PTFE).
Taricha Newt, Juvenile (×5)
Taricha sp.
Expert Inquire
⚠ TETRODOTOXIN WARNING. These newts secrete TTX, a potent neurotoxin blocking voltage-gated sodium channels. Handle with extreme caution — wash hands thoroughly. Currently in semi-terrestrial 'eft' stage requiring high humidity and damp substrate, minimal standing water. Experienced newt keepers only.
Spanish Ribbed Newt (×3, incl. albinos)
Pleurodeles waltl
Intermediate Inquire
Europe's largest newt. Possesses an extreme anti-predator defense: when threatened, it flexes its ribs forward to physically pierce through its own skin, delivering toxic secretions directly into an attacker's mouth. Remarkably, it heals from these self-inflicted wounds rapidly. Cool water 66–74°F, tight lid essential — escape artists. Normal and albino morphs available.
Day Gecko (×1 male)
Phelsuma sp.
Expert Inquire
⚠ DISPLAY ONLY — does not tolerate handling. Brilliantly colored diurnal gecko endemic to Madagascar. Requires high-output UVB radiation and intense visible lighting for calcium metabolism and color expression. Incredibly fast; skin is extremely fragile — can slough off large patches as an escape mechanism (autotomy).
Crested Dalmatian Gecko (×1 male)
Correlophus ciliatus
Beginner Inquire
Thought entirely extinct until a miraculous 1994 rediscovery in New Caledonia. One of the best beginner reptiles — no UVB required, fruit-based diet, 20-year lifespan. Lacks eyelids; uses its tongue to clean its transparent spectacle scale. Dalmatian morph (black spotting). Actively looking for a good home.
Invertebrates 12 species
Baby Brine Shrimp (culture)
Artemia salina
Beginner Inquire
Active hatching culture. Essential first food for fish fry and small amphibian larvae. Setup and eggs included.
Red Swamp Crayfish (×1)
Procambarus clarkii
Beginner Inquire
Species of immense ecological adaptability and severe global invasive concern. Highly aggressive ecosystem engineer — uproots plants, displaces substrate, preys on slow fish. Species-only tank, tightly fitted lid essential. Instinct to migrate overland during humid conditions makes them notorious escape artists.
Marmorkrebs (colony)
Procambarus virginalis
Beginner Inquire
⚠ LEGAL CHECK REQUIRED. The only known decapod crustacean to reproduce via obligate apomictic parthenogenesis — every individual is a triploid, genetically identical female clone. A single specimen can establish a massive colony without fertilization. Exceptional feeder culture. Possession regulated or banned in many jurisdictions.
Cajun Dwarf Crayfish (large colony)
Cambarellus shufeldtii
Beginner Inquire
Louisiana native, one of the most peaceful crayfish available. Under 1 inch total length. Fully compatible with planted tanks and small fish communities. Actively forages for detritus without destroying plants. Nano-tank friendly. Large colony available.
Unknown Crayfish + babies
Cambarellus sp. or Procambarus sp.
Beginner Inquire
Species identification pending — likely a dwarf Cambarellus species based on size and behavior. Female with babies. Inquire for current status.
Australian Red Claw Crayfish (×1)
Cherax quadricarinatus
Intermediate Inquire
Massive, impressive warm-water parastacid from Australia. Surprisingly less aggressive than North American Procambarus — cautious group housing possible in very large systems. Males have vibrant red claw patches. Critical: leave shed exoskeletons in tank — they consume them to reabsorb calcium for hardening the new shell.
Brazos Dwarf Crayfish (×1, ID tentative)
Cambarellus texanus
Beginner Inquire
Hardy Texas native dwarf crayfish. Tentative identification — may confirm on inspection. Same care as other Cambarellus: nano-tank friendly, plant-safe, peaceful.
Isopods (various cultures)
Armadillidium / Porcellio spp.
Beginner Inquire
Terrestrial crustaceans — the backbone of bioactive vivaria alongside springtails. Use larger mandibles to mechanically break down decaying leaf litter, cork bark, and animal waste. Multiple species cultures available.
Springtails (multiple containers)
Folsomia candida
Beginner Inquire
Ubiquitous wingless hexapods extensively used in toxicology and soil studies. In vivarium curation, they are the absolute backbone of substrate health — constantly metabolizing fungal blooms, mold, and decomposing organic matter. Essential for any bioactive setup.
Electric Blue Crayfish (×1)
Procambarus alleni
Intermediate Inquire
Endemic to the Florida Everglades. Striking, genetically selected sky-blue phenotype. Intensely territorial and highly cannibalistic during molting. Typically demands solitary confinement. Long-lived (5+ years).
Albino / Ghost Crayfish
Procambarus sp. var. albino
Beginner Inquire
Lacks pigmentation entirely, showcasing the genetic plasticity of the Procambarus genus. Same care as standard Procambarus — species-only, secure lid.
Louisiana Grass Shrimp (colony)
Palaemonetes paludosus
Beginner Inquire
Cold-tolerant native detritivore. Efficiently processes uneaten food and biofilm. Also serves as a live food source for larger fish and amphibians. Hardy colony available.
Plants & Fungi 22 species
Java Moss
Vesicularia dubyana
Beginner Inquire
Incredibly resilient aquatic bryophyte. No CO2 required. Absorbs nutrients directly from the water column through microscopic phyllids. Dense mats provide critical infusoria grazing grounds for fish fry and shelter for juvenile shrimp.
Spiky Moss
Taxiphyllum sp. 'Spiky'
Beginner Inquire
No CO2 required. Low to medium light. Slow to moderate growth. Attach vertically to driftwood for best form.
Riccia
Riccia fluitans
Beginner Inquire
Fascinating ecological duality. Floats freely at the surface forming a dense, oxygen-rich mat — perfect for killifish spawning and bubble-nesting species. Under high light + CO2, can be tied down as a brilliant green carpet.
Hornwort
Ceratophyllum demersum
Beginner Inquire
The primary chemical filtration powerhouse. True obligate aquatic plant with no root system. Extremely rapid growth (inches per week). Metabolizes extreme nitrates and phosphates, starving nuisance algae. In alkaline water, performs biogenic decalcification — extracts carbon directly from dissolved bicarbonates.
Susswassertang
Lomariopsis lineata
Beginner Inquire
A profound botanical anomaly — visually resembles seaweed, but genetic sequencing confirms it's actually the gametophyte phase of an aquatic fern that never develops into a mature sporophyte. Thrives in low-flow, low-light environments. Ideal for deep-water shrimp habitats.
Epipremnum 'Lemon Lime'
Epipremnum aureum 'Lemon Lime'
Beginner Inquire
Shocking chartreuse-yellow foliage that brightens any space. Fast-growing, easy care, wide light tolerance.
Epipremnum pinnatum

Beginner Inquire
Classic vining aroid. Multiple specimens available across the collection.
Philodendron billietiae
Philodendron billietiae
Intermediate Inquire
Instantly recognizable by its elongated, corrugated sagittate leaves and highly contrasting neon-orange petioles. Exact lighting and nutrient regimens needed to maintain vivid petiole coloration. Loves a moss pole.
Monstera Albo (×2)
Monstera deliciosa 'Albo Variegata'
Intermediate Inquire
The most coveted variegated Monstera. Variegation is genetic chimerism — the plant consists of multiple competing genotypes. White tissue cannot photosynthesize, so the plant is highly dependent on bright indirect light. If light drops, it may revert to solid green or produce all-white leaves that quickly necrotize. Two specimens available.
E. pinnatum Albo Variegata
Epipremnum pinnatum albo variegata
Intermediate Inquire
White-and-green variegated pinnatum. Needs bright indirect light to prevent reversion to solid green. A premium collector's Epipremnum.
Scindapsus pictus
Scindapsus pictus
Beginner Inquire
Uses blister variegation — air pockets beneath the leaf epidermis reflect ambient light, creating a metallic, sparkling silver appearance. This structural adaptation helps reflect excess thermal radiation in sudden sun-flecks. Tolerates lower light than most variegated plants.
Silver Sword Philodendron
Philodendron hastatum 'Silver Sword'
Beginner Inquire
Silvery-blue, glaucous foliage that shifts from simple lanceolate to complex tri-lobed shapes as the plant matures and climbs. Great trailing or on a moss pole.
Syngonium 'Santa Maria'
Syngonium podophyllum 'Santa Maria'
Beginner Inquire
Rich burgundy-red foliage requiring elevated light to synthesize the high anthocyanin concentrations responsible for its dark, almost black coloration. Standout in any aroid collection.
Epipremnum 'Global Green' (×2+)
Epipremnum aureum 'Global Green'
Beginner Inquire
Subtle green-on-green variegation — deep green on lighter green. Multiple pots available. Easy care, wide light tolerance.
Cebu Blue Pothos
Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue'
Beginner Inquire
Silver-blue iridescent leaves that develop fenestrations as the plant matures and climbs. One of the most striking Epipremnum cultivars.
Monstera Peru
Monstera karstenianum 'Peru'
Beginner Inquire
Heavily bullate — deep, rigid corrugated texture maximizing surface area for light absorption. Thrives in the deep, shaded understory. More shade-tolerant than other Monsteras.
Monstera dubia
Monstera dubia
Intermediate Inquire
Fascinating shingling climber exhibiting extreme heteroblasty. Juvenile leaves grow perfectly flat, appressed against tree trunks. As it climbs toward brighter light, morphology radically transforms — mature leaves develop fenestrations and extend outward. ID tentative (sold as 'Hayi').
Rhaphidophora hayi
Rhaphidophora hayi
Intermediate Inquire
Another shingling climber — grows perfectly flat against boards or bark panels. Unusual tiling growth habit. A genuine conversation piece for aroid collectors.
Monstera Thai Constellation (×2)
Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation'
Intermediate Inquire
Engineered via tissue culture — far more stable genetic mutation than the Albo, expressing as creamy star-like speckling distributed evenly across leaves. Slower-growing but more predictable. Two specimens available.
Scindapsus 'Thai Jade'
Scindapsus sp. 'Thai Jade'
Intermediate Inquire
Deep green with subtle silver patterning. Tentative identification but highly probable. A slow-growing collector piece.
Duckweed
Lemna minor
Beginner Inquire
The world's smallest flowering plant. Incredibly fast surface growth. Excellent nitrate sponge. WARNING: nearly impossible to fully eradicate once introduced to a system.
